# URL QR Code Generator

The common case: a code that opens a web page. Point it at a product page, a menu, a form, a video — anything with an address.

Specimen · Level M

Live — scan it and the menu address opens in the browser.

## What happens when someone scans it

The phone reads the address and offers to open it — a banner from the camera on iPhone, a tap-through from the camera or Google Lens on Android. One tap and the page is open in the browser. Nothing to install.

## What the code actually contains

```
https://cafe.example/menu
```

The address itself, byte for byte. Leave the scheme off and Studio adds https:// for you. Turn on campaign tags and utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign are appended, so scans arrive labelled in your analytics.

## How to make one

1. Paste the address, and open it in a browser once to be sure it works.
2. Add campaign tags if you want print scans to show up separately in analytics.
3. Style it and check the preflight panel.
4. Export. The shorter the address, the sparser the code — sparser codes scan from further away.

## Fields

- `url` The address
- `us · um · uc` utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign (optional)

## Short addresses make better codes

Every character in the address becomes modules in the grid. A long URL with tracking parameters produces a dense code that has to be printed larger to scan at the same distance. If the address is long, put a short redirect you control in front of it.

## The code is permanent; the page is not

The address is printed into the modules and cannot be edited afterwards. The code works for as long as the address answers. If the destination might move, encode a redirect you control and change where it points server-side.

## Questions

### Does the code expire?

No. There is no service between the scanner and your page — the code is the address. It works until the page itself goes away.

### Can I change the destination after printing?

Only if you encoded a redirect you control. The code itself cannot be edited; otherwise reprinting is the honest answer.

### How do I count scans?

Codes are passive, so add campaign tags: every scan then arrives in your analytics labelled with the source you chose. Studio never sees a scan either way.
