# Event QR Code Generator

A code that puts an event in someone’s calendar. For posters, invitations, tickets and anything with a date people will otherwise forget.

Specimen · Level M

Live — scan it and the cupping session lands in the calendar.

## What happens when someone scans it

The calendar offers to add the event — title, place, start and end — into whatever calendar the phone uses. Saving it is one tap.

## What the code actually contains

```
BEGIN:VCALENDAR
VERSION:2.0
BEGIN:VEVENT
SUMMARY:Cupping session
LOCATION:Cafe Flatwhite
DTSTART:20261003T100000
DTEND:20261003T113000
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR
```

An iCalendar event. Times are written as they read on the poster — floating local time, no timezone arithmetic.

## How to make one

1. Title the event the way it should appear in a stranger’s calendar.
2. Set start and end; add the place.
3. Style it and check the preflight panel.
4. Export, and scan it once to see the calendar entry with your own eyes.

## Fields

- `title` Event title
- `loc` Location (optional)
- `start · end` Start and end, local time

## Times are local on purpose

The code carries 19:00 as 19:00. Scanned in another timezone it stays 19:00 — which is exactly right for a poster on a wall: the event happens where the poster hangs.

## The reminder is theirs

Alerts follow the person’s own calendar defaults. If attendance depends on a reminder, say the time in print too; the code is the convenience, not the contract.

## Questions

### Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes; the iCalendar format is the shared standard. Some Android camera apps hand it to the calendar less gracefully — test on one before printing a thousand.

### Can it repeat weekly?

No. One code, one event. A weekly series is better served by a URL code to a calendar subscription.

### What if the event moves?

The printed code keeps the old time. Reprint, or encode a URL to a page you update.
